North Karnataka has monuments that date back to the 5th century. Kannada empires that ruled the Deccan had their capitals here. Badami Chalukyas monuments are located at Pattadakal, Aihole, and Badami. Aihole has been called the cradle of Indian architecture and has over 125 temples and monuments built between 450 and 1100 BC.  The Vijayanagar Empire temples at Vijayanagara are some examples.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Hubli – Badami (1 Night)

Arrive at Hubli airport and proceed to Badami. It is picturesquely nestled at the mouth of a ravine between two rocky hills and it is an important place in the heritage history of Karnataka. Overnight in Badami.

 

Day 2 - Badami – Pattadakal - Aihole – Hampi (2 Nights)

Today, we will be visiting Badami Caves and Bhutnatha Group of Temples. After that, we will head towards Pattadakal, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site, to witness the grand Vipruksha Temple. Later, we will visit the 5th-century stone temples at Aihole, which was once the capital of the Chalukya Dynasty, known for its intricate stonework. Finally, we'll proceed to Hampi, where we'll spend the night.

 

Day 3 – Hampi Local

Today, we will be exploring Hampi, which has been classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It is also known as the "World's Largest Open-air Museum." During this trip, you will have the opportunity to experience an auto-rickshaw ride (on your own) to explore the sights of Hampi. We will be visiting the Virupaksha Temple, Vitthala Temple, and the Stone Chariot. We will also be visiting the underground Shiva temple, Royal centre (Queen's Bath, Lotus Mahal), and the Elephant Stables. Later, there will be some free time for shopping. Overnight stay will be in Hampi.

 

Day 4 - Hampi – Hubli (1 Night)

Today we will take a coracle ride to explore the Hippie side of Hampi and visit Anegundi Village, which is a UNESCO Heritage Historical Village. Later, we will proceed to Hubli where we will be staying overnight.

 

Day 5 – Hubli Departure

After breakfast, proceed to Hubli Airport to board a flight to your hometown. Your holiday has concluded. Let's stay in touch via Facebook, email and meet again on another memorable holiday. See you soon!
